Alibava Systems at the 2015 IEEE NSS/MIC in San Diego

Alibava Systems was at 2015 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference  in San Diego, California (USA), which was held from October 31st to November 7th. We had a booth for exposing our range of products to the large number of scientific assistants that the conference counted on, measured in 2000 approximately. Moreover, on November 4th, Alibava System’s project manager, Carlos Jumilla, gave a presentation of EASy, our new educational system which helps to teach about how radiation detectors work. During the exposition, there was also a demonstration of its functions as well as of the different activities it is able to conduct.

Researchers from the Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, (PA, USA) have used for the first time an Alibava System Classic to perform microdosimetry measurements in a Protontherapy machine.

The microdosimeter consists of an array of micro-sensors that have 3D cylindrical electrodes of 15 µm diameter and a depth of 5 µm within a silicon membrane, resulting in a well-defined micrometric radiation sensitive volume. The first measurements have been taken with a 241Am source and the results have been published in Applied Physics Letters [1].

Measurements using real proton beams, as shown in the picture, have also been taken and will be published soon.

Article Featuring Alibava System Classic on ScienceDirect

A scientific article describing a new test beam telescopebuilt using the Alibava System Classic for data acquisition, has just been published in the peer-reviewed journal “Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research”.

This test beam telescope system isable to reconstruct the track of the incident particles with reasonable precision and to determine the position of the beam particle interactions in a device under test (DUT), in order to test its tracking capabilities.

The telescope hardware is based on the existing ALIBAVA readout system and has been developed to be able to host several ALIBAVA daughter- and mother-boards: this way many tracking planes can be installed in order to realize a telescope.

Alibava Systems attends the IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium 2013

ALIBAVA Systems participated in the industrial exhibition of the IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium (NSS-MIC 2013). The conference is the most attended in the fields of Nuclear Science, High Energy Physics, radiation instrumentation, and software for related applications (over 2,200 attendees). The program emphasized the latest developments in technology and radiation instrumentation and their implementation in experiments for Particle Physics, homeland security, space, accelerators, and other radiation environments.

The ALIBAVA Systems stand showed our products and accessories, together with an operating demonstration of the system. The stand received more than 100 visits of scientists and engineers interested in different applications. In addition, ALIBAVA Systems gave a one-hour presentation with the title «A radiation sensor characterisation system in a box.»
